Duty Drawback Newsletter - July 2009
One of the prevailing philosophies of our time is that information is power. It certainly holds true that the more you know about a particular subject, the better you can understand its nuances and intricacies. In the strange and wonderful world of duty drawback it is critical that a person understand the rules, regulations, and procedures to fully utilize and profit from this amazing program.
If you have not visited our new website at dutydrawback.com I encourage you to do so. The site has been redesigned to provide more information on our company and our service offerings. The webpage also contains a wealth of resources and links pertaining to duty drawback and Customs matters in general.
We have purposely designed the site to be both comprehensive in content and user-friendly in format. Take a few minutes to look at the various dropdowns and explore the links. From this single source you can find definitions of drawback terms, and can view or download the drawback statute, regulations, and forms. We have included calculators to help you estimate drawback potential, and information on upcoming seminars to better empower you and your associates.
We will be issuing newsletters periodically to keep you informed of current events that impact drawback and to address specific issues that are often overlooked or misunderstood. We invite you to share our newsletters with your colleagues, and encourage you to comment and offer suggestions to help us meet your drawback needs.
To maintain an effective and efficient drawback program there must be a true partnership between the claimant and the drawback service provider, and that partnership must be founded on knowledge and trust. The service provider must properly educate the claimant in the concepts of duty drawback and the many opportunities it presents, and the claimant must freely share information with the service provider so that a comprehensive drawback plan can be established to address each opportunity.
Drawback runs on data, and the more information that can be accumulated and processed in a timely, accurate manner, the greater the benefit. If everyone involved in the drawback process better understands what is required and why it is required, the result will be increased compliance, greater efficiency, and most importantly, larger drawback refunds!
